While out on the beach I do rubbings to capture the trace of my touching the stone and responsibility collect materials such as chalk, sea worn brick, charcoal from bonfires and plant materials. From these I make inks, pigments and resists . Currently I am developing a chalk based white ground for etching, a charcoal based sugar lift and a rubbing crayon for field rubbings to transfer them to etching plates.
